FC Barcelona 2021 Summer Transfer window - Departures Recap

FC Barcelona’s summer transfer window for 2021 has been rather contentious, not only among the Culers but among every football fan. Despite all the talk sorrounding it, the new arrivals for the club has been a very interesting topic to gossip about.

Many football fans all around the world were waiting for a sensational new tag team of Messi and Sergio Aguero in Barcelona, but to everyone’s disappointment, Messi had to leave Barca, leaving everyone in shock and pain. However the Manchester City legend’s arrival as a free transfer started with agony as Aguero got into a calf injury just as the season kicked off. But we have received good news that Super Aguero is right on course for Barcelona’s debut after the international break. Hopefully, Aguero will leave his mark in Barcelona as we all know what he is capable of despite his age.

Aguero wasn’t the only City player this season joining Barcelona. Spanish Centre-Back Eric Garcia from Man City was also signed however has not been able to live up to his expectations ever since joining Barca. To worsen the situation Eric Garcia was at fault for the first goal against Benfica in their humiliating 3-0 defeat in Lisbon. Things couldn’t go more worse for Garcia when he was sent off for a second time this season later in the game. But since the 20-year-old center back is a player with true potential and promising talent, all the cules hope he will shine soon as possible.

But the season’s spotlight transfer was Memphis Depay. The Dutch International has to lead the attack and fill the shoes of the great Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, which we know is a lot to ask. But Depay wasn’t able to produce the likes of his performance in Ligue 1 yet. This was seen from Nicolas Pepe and Lacazette too, when they joined the Premier League from Ligue 1. Depay himself faced a similar situation when he joined Man Utd and couldn’t live up to the hype. The problem is, can he overcome it this time?

Austrian wonder-kid Yusuf Demir also joined the Catalan giants in the wing. This talented young man was the target of many clubs but Barcelona succeeded in recruiting him for a one-year loan, and the option of completing the deal for 10 million Euros. The Right-Winger showed great promise and skill in his streak with Rapid Vienna, making him a high hope and a gem signing for Barcelona this season.

Alex Collado, Inaki Pena, and Gavi also joined the squad from Barcelona B and Barcelona U19 should hopefully be able to give their youthful energy and pace to the team this season.
