Will Xavi choose traditional 4-3-3 formation?

Most probably Xavi will go with their usual 4-3-3 formation. Barcelona played 3 defenders against Benfica in their last game, but tonight it is going to be their standard formation going into LaLiga again.

The back would be pretty much the same with Ter Stegen in the goal. Ronald Araujo will start tonight as he was absolutely phenomenal the last game. The center back showed his colors in keeping a clean sheet against Benefica. I would prefer Eric Garcia over Pique because having the young center back duo will be great for things to come in Barca. For the Left Back position it’s better to play Mingueza in the first half and substitute Dest because it’s risky to play Sergino straightaway after an injury.

The Midfield won’t be changed either with Nico Gonzales, Frenkie De Jong and the good old Sergio Busquets in the pitch. Barca will be looking to have a solid play in the middle with these three, to try and control the game since the 1st minute.

Options for the front-end are a little tight, and Memphis Depay has to take charge tonight in front as usual. The left-wing will be in the likes of Gavi, the wonderkind should produce tonight with majic balls into the box, breaking through the defence. Yusuf Demir will play in the right wing, as he has the upper hand with experience and his good performance last game, over Ilias Akhomach and Abde Ezzalzouli.

But we might see some action from either of these two youngsters in the second half in place of Gavi, because towards the end Barcelona will need more energy in the wing. Dembele won’t be starting as of his injury situation but we will see him in action in the second half.

Dembele was very impressive against Benefica in the second half, unlucky he couldn’t make Barca break the shackles at the end. Dest and Balde can come back to the defence in the second half in place of Oscar Mingueza and Jordi Alba. Riqui Puig also has a chance to replace Busquets in the second half to keep the defence tight throughout the entire 90 minutes.
