After a tough game Barcelona clinched a 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium taking them to the top of the league with a 3 point lead. Visitors Barcelona started very well and went on to get the decisive goal through Osumane Dembele, but thereafter homeside started to dominate the game but were unable to find an equalizer. Here’s what Pedri, Oblak, Christensen and Busquets said after the game.

Sergio Busquets
Barca captain stated that this win was highly important, as it was against a tough opponent and Real Madrid loosing last night means that a win would take them clear on the top of La Liga.
“Very happy, we knew we were coming to a difficult stadium, we had to take advantage of Real Madrid’s stumble yesterday, we played an equal game and had several chances. We acted well and created chances.”
Barcelona defensively was excellent last night, as the back three gave everything to defend their lead. Skipper Busquets further stated about the performance of the team,“We hoped to be more effective in attack, defensively we presented an excellent picture, they had a clear opportunity but we were strict in defense and attack.”

Pedri (Pedro González López)
The man who danced through the Atletico Midfield to create the chance for the goal, ‘Pedri’ said,
“Xavi always tells me to get closer to the area and shoot. He tells me to take risks and dribble 1v1.”
Andreas Christensen
Pedri was incredible in the game, while another player who had a great game was Andreas Christensen who was solid at the back for Barcelona. The Danish defender arrived at the Camp Nou last summer on a free transfer from Barcelona and has adopted well to the Spanish game and Barcelona style of play. He was asked about the adaptation to Barcelona style, and he said,
“Good question, but my adaptation has been very easy. I feel comfortable in any defensive position I play.”
Further when asked about the game Christensen said,
“There were some dangerous shots, but we defended them well. We worked very well.”

Jan Oblak
Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak who had a good game and was helpless in the Dembele strike said,
“We played a great match. From the first minutes we pressed, we had chances and shot on goal. We could have scored, but the ball just didn’t go into the net.”
Despite a good fight Atletico didn’t get anything out of the game and are currently ranking fifth while Winners Barcelona are topping the table with this highly important away win.
