Alejandro Balde was asked about Joan Laporta’s recent announcement that the renewal is complete. But Baldes’s reply was that the discussion is still not over. His agent is currently taking care of the negotiation process and had a recent meeting with the club. However, Alejandro is hoping to stay over. The 19 year old mentioned that he is comfortable and happy here, and he is very focused to keep continuing his hard work with Barca.
The defender told the interviewer something very interesting about his style of play. As a matter of fact, Balde in his initial days used to play as a winger. But one day he was moved to the full back position, which he never wanted to before, has been consistent in his new position. Alejandro mentions that his strengths are his speed, and his ability to win one-on-one plays.
His attention was also drawn into how the change of play with Barca has affected him. Alejandro thinks as a player with a lot of movement he’d prefer a system of 3 mid fielders rather than 4, giving him more freedom on the pitch. But the youngster is willing to adapt and confident with either way. Also he is quite happy with the performances of his teammates in the back.
“We are having a great moment. Ter Stegen is in excellent form and Kounde, Christensen and Araujo are performing very well and I’m happy for them.”
Alejandro was asked if the pressure and responsibility is too much for the younger players in the team, including him. But Balde sees himself along with players like Pedri, Gavi and Fati knows by now well how to deal with it. He addressed the current situation with Fati to be quite normal in sports, where players have to go through both good and rough patches at times. He mentioned that they are very good friends because they share the same Guinea Bissau background, and all the teammates have confidence in him.
Is Barcelona defence finally stable in 2022/23? (Part 1)
The player was asked for his thoughts on being eliminated from the Champions League. He said it was a very hard blow, but still, they are very prepared for the other competition they have. Barcelona won’t be putting it lightly when it comes to any trophy.
