Why did Suarez make a phone call celebration?
Continuing their run of poor form, Barcelona faced another embarrassment at the Wanda Metropolitan by their arch rivals as the Laliga defending champions Atletico Madrid beat Blaugranas by 2-0 in a game which Barcelona had more than 70% of possession. French midfielder Thomas Lemar opened the scoring in the 23rd minute and the biggest upset was when Ex- Barcelona and Uruguayan number 9 Luiz Suarez scored against his former club.
In the 44th minute just before the half time whistle, Atletico managed to break Barcelona’s defence yet again as Joao Felix played Lemar into the space down the left flank where there was only one defender. Ex- Barca gunman was at the right with ample space and Lemar crossed the ball nicely over Gerard Pique. Suarez controlled the ball with a calm gentle touch and fired it into the bottom left corner of the net.
Though the Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul came to celebrate with him, former Barca striker didn’t celebrate the goal out of respect for his former employers. But just afterwards, he made an interesting gesture which then became one of the hottest topics on social media today.

However, Suarez himself answered the questions and stated his reasoning for the celebration.
Luis Suárez,: “It was for the people who have my number, who know that it remains the same, that I have not changed it. Because of Koeman? No (laughs)”
Also, the veteran striker stated his everlasting love and loyalty to FC Barcelona.
Luis Suarez: “I am one more culer, I know that my former teammates and fans are having a hard time.”
It seems Suarez still has FC Barcelona in his heart but still hasn’t forgetten about Ronald Koeman’s and the previous board’s actions.
"I didn't celebrate the goal out of respect, out of love, because I am also a Culé, and because my former team is going through a bad moment."
