The future of Ronald Koeman as the manager was already shattering with the start of the new season. And with two defeats in the Champions League against Bayern and Benfica, both 3-0 and not registering a single shot on target, it was already clear that Koeman will have to leave his position as head coach. Joan Laporta seems to already have made his decision and Koeman himself came to accept his fate. But Jordi Cruyff, Barcelona’s director of international scouting, convinced the Barca President to let the Dutch coach have one more chance, as per reports.
🚨🚨| Laporta: “Koeman will stay as coach of the team independently of the result. He will stay. He deserves a margin of confidence. He loves Barça, he’s a reference point.” pic.twitter.com/xr0X25KCfD

It was Jordi Cruyff who convinced president Laporta to not fire Ronald Koeman. He insisted that the manager needs to have Agüero, Dembélé and Ansu Fati all fully fit before judging the team.

Cruyff believes that Koeman will be able to bring his team back to their usual form as there will be new players returning to play after unfortunate injury periods. The newly signed Manchester City veteran Sergio Aguero alongside Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele will most likely return just after the international break of October, and will hopefully rediscover their form. Cruyff strongly believes that these attacking players will make Barcelona feel alive again Memphis Depay was almost isolated in the attacking area in the last match.
The ex-Barcelona player has a close bond with Ronald Koeman because he was already a friend of Jordi’s father, Johan Cruyff. Back in July, Jordi stated that it would be ugly of him to replace Koeman because he has principles. He stated that he hasn’t changed his mind even still. So he will keep supporting Ronald Koeman to succeed as manager with Barcelona.
