Barcelona vs Valencia – Lineup Prediction & Preview

Barcelona faces Valencia tonight in a crucial fixture for both sides. Barcelona is currently holding the 9th position while Valencia the 8th. Let’s take a quick look at what the Catalans are holding up their sleeves.

The long awaited return of Dembele will have to wait, as the winger will need more time for his recovery. So we are looking at a front-line powered by Luuk de Jong, Memphis Depay and Coutinho. Ansu Fati has a huge probability to start the game but it would be risky since the player just returned from his injury. Barca cannot afford anymore risks of injury with the high stakes this season. Sergio Aguero will be debuting tonight surely, and Ronald Koeman believes he can play a huge impact this season with his goal scoring prowess.

The midfield looks strong with De Jong, Gavi and Busquets. Busquets and Gavi are in incredible form after the UEFA Nations League Finals. If they can produce similar performances tonight, Barcelona can surely dominate the midfield. The midfield tonight is completely capable of filling the loss of Pedri tonight. And Nico is likely to appear as a substitute for Busquets in the second half.

Sergino Dest, Alba, Mingueza and Pique will be Barcelona’s defense tonight with Ter Stegen between the posts. Once again, we have Dest in his finest of forms after his own international break with the U.S. Roberto and Balde are available in place of Dest and Alba after the halfway mark. Tonight’s match will also be a reflection to the fans, on how Barcelona will face the rest of the season. So Koeman needs to switch to the 4-3-3 formation, he should not repeat the same mistakes prior to this. Tonight is the first test for Ronald Koeman with his position as team manager on the line.
