Barcelona’s plan is to increase his salary step by step along with his buyout clause. With time his wages will rise higher and if he shows promise and consistency, he will keep getting rewarded as he will become more and more of an important role for the team as time passes.
‘Marca’ states that Chelsea is not thinking of paying his buyout clause at the time being, so this is good news for Barcelona to continue their negotiations more calmly. Gavi’s current contract only holds upto 2023 summer. A 3 year extension will be very appealing for Xavi Hernandez’s plans as the new coach as he seems to believe a lot in Gavi on his future plans. Gavi started against both Espanyol and Benefica under the new head coach. So this contract renewal will be very influential in making Gavi a key piece on the chessboard.
