Let’s have a quick look at the Career of Hector Bellerin at FC Barcelona along with his future as a Right Back.
Can Vitor Roque be the next big thing for Barcelona?
Unfortunate Return
Hector Bellerin’s time in Barcelona’s colours came to an end with the close of the January transfer window, as the 27-year-old Spaniard was sold to Sporting CP. His spell wasn’t impressive at all either, as he only made three league appearances.

Before Barcelona
The Catalan-born right-back was a La Masia graduate but left the Barcelona youth team in 2011 for the Arsenal youth team. Bellerin spent 10 seasons with the Gunners before returning to Real Betis for the 2021/22 season on loan. That season, the three-time FA Cup winner won the Copa Del Rey with Los Verdiblancos. With the loan spell coming to an end, Bellerin had his Arsenal contract terminated and signed for Barcelona on a one-year deal.
Spell at Barca

.
Despite the fact that Bellerin was the only natural right-back Barcelona had this season, manager Xavi Hernandez chose Jules Kounde and Sergi Roberto over him. Bellerin only made 7 appearances for Barca, including 5 starts. Bellerin had a few injuries that kept him off the pitch for a while. The rise of youngsters like Alejandro Balde, who is a natural left-back and is also good on the right, further kept Bellerin from getting a chance to play regularly.

Early Exit
Bellerin was the only player to leave the Barcelona squad during the January transfer window. Sporting CP reached an agreement with Barcelona to loan out Bellerin until the end of the season. Sporting was looking for a right back after a contentious transfer saga involving Pedro Porro resulted in him joining Tottenham Hotspur.

Stats
In his 7 appearances, Hector wasn’t able to score or assist and didn’t show enough courage going forward. Xavi always wants his fullbacks to constantly press and attack, which made Hector fall back in the selection. Out of his 7 appearances, Barcelona has won 6, and its only defeat came against Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage. Bellerin played a total of 494 minutes in his 7 appearances across 3 competitions.
